The Red Lion was taken over in February 2012 by the current owner who is passionate about the pub.
The day to day running falls to a few members of key staff who are equally passionate about the Red Lion and ensure there is a warm welcoming atmosphere for diners, drinkers and guests alike.
Dane is our Bar Manager, he has worked at the Red Lion for over two years and is a stickler for detail and insists on high standards from all of the bar staff.
There was a total refurbishment of the public areas in March 2012, from a tired and uninviting public bar to a thriving traditional old English Pub. Locals and visitors are made welcome and can enjoy a relaxing drink in warm and comfortable open bar area.
Nicky is landlady of the Red Lion. She is in charge of all aspects of running the bar & looking after housekeeping.
She has an extremely good strong team who work with her, who strive for only the best for their customers.
We have six letting rooms which will shortly under go a program of alteration and refurbishment to bring them all up to date and all en-suite. Currently three of the rooms are en-suite, all rooms have modern 36” flat screen TVs with satellite reception. The rooms are clean, dry and warm and are serviced daily but require modernisation and this is reflected in our prices.

We pride ourselves in keeping and serving a rotation of local and guest ales . The cellar is kept at the optimum temperature of 12 degrees by a modern combined heater and cooler to ensure perfectly cask conditioned ales at the correct temperature.
We have a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile which has aromas of tropical fruit & white flowers, a Chardonnay from Chile with toast, butter & citrus notes, an Italian Pinot Grigio with a unique crisp fresh bouquet.
The rose wines are both pink Zinfandel, an Italian with strawberry & raspberry notes & a Californian with strawberry & floral notes.
We offer a good selection of reds & two award winning Prosecco.
Our menu is designed and prepared by our talented Head Chef. We are able to provide a high standard of cooked to order meals made from fresh ingredients at a very affordable price that will not break the bank.
We have a hand picked selection of single malt whiskies ranging from 8 to 25 year old
In March 2012, the Red Lion was extensively refurbished throughout the public areas. The outside of the building was also repainted and repaired as necessary with new signage to brighten up a tired looking building. Inside there has been two new log burners installed and a change in colour scheme.
